About Concurrent

Concurrent Technologies is a recognised leader in Mission-ready computing for land, sea, air, and cyber operations.

For over 40 years, the business has supported defence organisations, prime contractors and government agencies worldwide, delivering rugged computing solutions that underpin some of the most demanding military applications. From land, sea and air platforms through to cyber and autonomous systems, Concurrent’s technology plays a vital role in ensuring operational capability, reliability and mission success.

At the heart of Concurrent’s defence offering is its ability to design and manufacture high-performance, ruggedised computing platforms built to operate in the harshest conditions. These solutions are engineered to perform in environments defined by extreme temperature, vibration and pressure, supporting applications such as radar, electronic warfare, intelligence and situational awareness systems.

The business has evolved beyond components into a true systems partner, providing fully integrated embedded solutions that enable customers to move quickly from concept through to deployment. Its modular, configurable approach allows programmes to be tailored to specific operational requirements, whether upgrading legacy platforms or delivering next-generation capability.

Concurrent’s reputation in defence is built on long-term partnerships and a proven track record of delivery. The organisation works closely with leading global OEMs and defence primes, consistently winning complex programmes that demand both technical excellence and reliability at scale.

With design and manufacturing capabilities across the UK and US, Concurrent combines engineering depth with global reach. Its solutions are trusted in programmes where failure is not an option, supporting modern defence operations that require speed, resilience and adaptability at the tactical edge.

As the defence landscape continues to evolve, Concurrent remains at the forefront of innovation, helping customers embrace open architectures, accelerate modernisation and deliver future-ready capability in increasingly complex operational environments.

Culture

Target culture and mindset statements

Our Target Culture is the way we behave and how we get things done.

Our Mindset Statements guide us to make decisions using good judgement to help us move forward at pace.

You may recognise the thinking. What we’re doing now is giving it clearer, more intentional language that everyone can use.

How our mindset shapes our decision-making

In January, we introduced our Mindset Statements: three short, practical phrases that help us make clearer, faster decisions, aligned with our Target Culture and ways of working.

  • Yes, if... - Encourages possibility thinking. Instead of “we can’t,” we ask “what would make this possible?” It's a mindset for overcoming blockers and enabling action with good judgement.
  • Schedule Trumps Cost - Puts delivery first, because meeting deadlines often creates more value than chasing small cost savings. It’s not about spending freely, it’s about recognising that schedule is the priority, and that cost can be a perceived blocker.
  • Fit for Purpose - Helps us focus on what the customer needs right now — not holding out for perfect or necessarily complete. It’s about delivering what’s needed to make progress, and refining where it matters.

How they work together

These mindset statements are most powerful when used together. Don’t think of them as just stand-alone tools, but as overlapping lenses that help you shape smarter decisions.

In the centre sits the sweet spot: clear, confident, and timely decisions that balance ambition with action.

Our target culture

  • Get things done
  • No spectators
  • Ambitious
  • Buzzing

Head of Supply Chain

We're building something powerful. Let's build it together.

We've delivered high-performance embedded computing solutions for four decades across industries including defence, telecoms, and aerospace. We’re proud to be experts in what we do and are looking for more brilliant people to join our team.

Head of Supply Chain

Location: Colchester (with UK & US collaboration)

Reporting to the Director of Operations, this is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll drive performance, resilience, and transformation across our supply chain — ensuring we deliver for our customers today while building capability for tomorrow.

This is a role with real scope.

We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable setting the strategy and rolling up their sleeves to deliver it. Our supply chain function is evolving, and you’ll play a key role in maturing processes, strengthening infrastructure, and embedding scalable ways of working that support a growing organisation.

If you enjoy building, shaping and improving, not just managing, this is the role for you.

What will I be delivering?

You’ll lead both the thinking and the doing. Expect to:

  • Own production planning and scheduling, while continuously improving how we plan, prioritise and adapt
  • Drive procurement excellence, ensuring materials are available when needed, while strengthening supplier strategy for the future
  • Identify gaps and build capability, implementing structured, scalable processes across supply chain operations
  • Balance hands-on problem solving with long-term improvement, bringing clarity and direction where things need to evolve
  • Drive cross-functional alignment, ensuring Sales, Engineering, PMO and Operations are working from a shared, realistic plan
  • Embed best practice and ways of working, supporting the ongoing development of our ERP (Business Central) and planning infrastructure
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement, bringing the team with you on the journey

What do I need to bring with me?

You’ll be someone who thrives in an environment where things aren’t fully formed and sees that as an opportunity, not a problem. You will need to navigate complexity, bring structure and make decisions that balance competing priorities.

  • Proven experience in roles where you have had to build, mature, or transform supply chain or operational functions
  • Comfortable operating at both strategic and operational level, switching seamlessly between the two
  • Experience implementing process improvements, systems, or new ways of working
  • Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems, ideally with exposure to system evolution or implementation
  • Track record of delivering results in high-mix, low volume, fast-moving environment

What's in it for me?

This isn’t a role where everything is already built. It’s a role where you get to build it!
You will have the opportunity to:

  • Shape and mature a critical function at a pivotal point in the company’s growth
  • Leave a visible legacy by implementing processes, systems and ways of working that will stand the test of time
  • Operate with real influence at leadership level, partnering across the business, and contributing to wider strategic direction
  • Balance hands-on delivery with long term transformation, giving you both immediate impact and lasting achievement

Benefits of working at Concurrent

  • 25 days holidays + bank holidays and holiday purchase scheme.
  • Annual profit share bonus.
  • Cycle to work, Home & Tech and car salary sacrifice schemes.
  • Death in service benefit & income protection.
  • Employee assistance programme and virtual GP.
  • Employee referral scheme.
  • Enhanced parental leave.
  • Generous company pension scheme with up to 10% employer contribution.
  • One paid volunteering day per year.
  • Private Health Insurance through Bupa.
  • YuLife wellbeing app.

Equal Opportunity Statement

We are an equal opportunity employer and believe in the power of a diverse, inclusive team. We welcome all applications from all suitably qualified people, regardless of race, sex, disability, religion / belief, sexual orientation or age.

Please let us know if you require anything which would enable your success throughout our interview process.

Supply Chain Manager

You will be leading the day to day activities of our procurement and supply chain function, making sure materials, suppliers and processes all come together to support smooth delivery across our SMT (Surface Mount Technology) and manufacturing activities.

It’s a hands-on role with real ownership. You will be balancing planning, supplier performance, and inventory to keep things moving, while building a strong team around you.

What will I be delivering?

  • Leading and developing the procurement and supply chain team, keeping day-to-day activity running smoothly and effectively.
  • Owning end-to-end materials planning—turning demand, forecasts, and engineering inputs into clear, executable plans.
  • Making sure the right materials are in place at the right time, driving strong OTIF performance and “right first time” availability.
  • Managing supplier scheduling, delivery commitments, and recovery plans to keep things on track.
  • Monitoring supplier performance (OTD, lead times, responsiveness) and stepping in early to manage risks around constrained or long-lead components.
  • Supporting inventory strategy across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods—balancing availability, risk, and working capital.
  • Driving improvements in inventory turns, while reducing excess and obsolescence.
  • Continuously improving planning processes, data quality, and system accuracy (MRP, BOMs, lead times, etc.).
  • Building a stable, responsive supply chain by working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams.

What's in it for me?

  • A role where you can take real ownership of the supply chain and make a visible impact in delivery and performance
  • The chance to lead and develop a team in a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing environment
  • A high-performing culture – we expect a lot but we back it up
  • A supportive, down-to-earth environment where people are trusted to get on with things
  • Ongoing development through day-to-day learning, exposure and real responsibility – Not just formal training
