Finance Director
Location: East Midlands / Hybrid

The Opportunity
A growing and ambitious professional services group is seeking a Finance Director to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering its financial strategy. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a high-impact leadership opportunity with responsibility for financial planning, performance insights, risk management, and supporting strategic growth, including M&A activity.
This role offers the chance to influence decision-making at board level while leading and developing a high-performing finance team.
 
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Planning
  • Lead the development of short, medium, and long-term financial plans
  • Own forecasting, budgeting, and cashflow management
  • Support strategic initiatives including acquisitions and corporate finance activity
Financial Control & Reporting
  • Ensure timely and accurate production of management accounts and KPIs
  • Deliver insightful performance reporting, including variance analysis against budget/forecast
  • Oversee statutory reporting, tax compliance, and regulatory submissions
Risk & Governance
  • Manage financial risks, including treasury, investments, and insurance
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory and legal requirements (including sector-specific regulations and data protection)
Systems & Process Improvement
  • Drive continuous improvement of finance systems and processes
  • Lead integration and optimisation of finance platforms with wider business systems
  • Oversee key operational processes including banking and payroll
Stakeholder Management
  • Build strong relationships with internal leadership teams and external partners
  • Manage relationships with banks, funders, and professional advisors
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team
  • Ensure capability, capacity, and succession planning aligns with business growth
  • Promote a collaborative and high-performance culture
About You
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Significant experience in a senior finance leadership role
  • Strong track record in financial planning, reporting, and team leadership
  • Experience supporting strategic growth initiatives (e.g. acquisitions, refinancing) highly desirable
  • Commercially astute with the ability to influence at executive level
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to operate in a fast-paced environment
