Finance DirectorLocation: East Midlands / Hybrid
The OpportunityA growing and ambitious professional services group is seeking a
Finance Director to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering its financial strategy. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a high-impact leadership opportunity with responsibility for financial planning, performance insights, risk management, and supporting strategic growth, including M&A activity.
This role offers the chance to influence decision-making at board level while leading and developing a high-performing finance team.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Strategy & Planning- Lead the development of short, medium, and long-term financial plans
- Own forecasting, budgeting, and cashflow management
- Support strategic initiatives including acquisitions and corporate finance activity
Financial Control & Reporting- Ensure timely and accurate production of management accounts and KPIs
- Deliver insightful performance reporting, including variance analysis against budget/forecast
- Oversee statutory reporting, tax compliance, and regulatory submissions
Risk & Governance- Manage financial risks, including treasury, investments, and insurance
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory and legal requirements (including sector-specific regulations and data protection)
Systems & Process Improvement- Drive continuous improvement of finance systems and processes
- Lead integration and optimisation of finance platforms with wider business systems
- Oversee key operational processes including banking and payroll
Stakeholder Management- Build strong relationships with internal leadership teams and external partners
- Manage relationships with banks, funders, and professional advisors
Leadership & Team Development- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team
- Ensure capability, capacity, and succession planning aligns with business growth
- Promote a collaborative and high-performance culture
About You- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
- Significant experience in a senior finance leadership role
- Strong track record in financial planning, reporting, and team leadership
- Experience supporting strategic growth initiatives (e.g. acquisitions, refinancing) highly desirable
- Commercially astute with the ability to influence at executive level
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to operate in a fast-paced environment
